Easter Festivities

I've gotten a little behind on the blog lately, but am going to try to catch up!  Over the past 3 weeks or so, we have all been sick multiple times.  I guess that just goes along with having a baby in daycare.

Back to April, with lots of pictures...

We were really excited to be able to attend the TCU Alumni Easter Egg Hunt this year.  Eli didn't quite understand the "hunting for eggs" concept, but he liked chewing on them and eating the grass!  Grandma T and Poppy came with us, and we also met up with Quinn, Kristen and Annie.  Annie is getting ready for a baby brother, so she practiced with Eli!

He could have cuddled with that Easter Bunny all day!

Loving his new swing in the backyard!
We had a wonderful, relaxing Easter weekend in Round Rock.  Eli loved his Easter baskets!  That weekend, Eli started cutting his first tooth, at over 8 months old.  Since Easter, he has gotten 4 teeth (2 bottom, 2 top)!

Another new swing at his grandparents house.  Lucky kid!

Friends

Here is my little flirt hanging out with one of his buddies, Claire, from school.  Check out that pose!  What a ham . . .

Planting a Garden

Now that Eli is eating lots of fruits and veggies, we decided it was about time that he help put some food on the table.  Here he is getting his hands dirty (literally) in the green house.

Fun in the Sun

A couple weekends ago we headed south to visit my family and Uncle Ross.  In addition to having a great time at his grandparents house in Round Rock, Eli got to experience the lake for the very first time.  After a last-minute stop at Wal-Mart to get a life jacket just his size (which was harder to find than I expected!), we headed out to Lake Austin for the day.  We were on the boat for hours, and Eli was a champ!  He took a nap, watched his Daddy and his Uncle Ross wake surf, helped drive the boat, and made friends with a family of ducks.  Eli was so relaxed and happy!  If the water had been a little warmer, he would have taken a swim.  If that day is any indication, I'm thinking he's going to be a little water baby!

Welcome, Spring!

With the time change and the gorgeous weather, we have been spending as much time outside as possible lately -- eating meals outside, taking naps outside, playing on blankets outside...you get the picture.  And it is wonderful to have time for evening walks after work before it gets dark!

Here is a random collection of pictures from the last few weeks.
Napping at his first TCU baseball game.
This boy loves water!
Taking an afternoon siesta at the golf course.
Doesn't everyone walk around the house wearing a crown?  He brought this one home from school.

Our 6 Month Old

It's really hard to believe that Eli is already 6 months old (actually, 6.5 months now). He is turning into quite a character, and we have been having so much fun with him!

At 6 months, Eli was 17 pounds 15 ounces and 28.5 inches long.  One big and healthy boy!  His eyes are still blue, and he is getting more hair which is looking pretty blonde.  Most people still tell us he looks like Jeff, but lately more people have been saying he looks like me.  His little personality is starting to show.  He is very curious, observant, and focused.  And he can be so silly too and cracks us up all the time!  He is starting to mimic actions and sounds -- if we laugh at him, he laughs back; if we beat on the floor like a drum, he does the same.

Here are just some of the things he has been up to these days:
  • He is sitting well without support, and even sat in a big boy high chair at a restaurant over the weekend.
  • He is rolling all over the place, which makes diaper changes, getting dressed and bath time really interesting.
  • He is pushing up and scooting backwards -- he'll be crawling in no time!
  • He loves jumping in his jumperoo and also bouncing up and down when being held.
  • He is running around the house in a walker.
  • He enjoys playing with toys, and chews on all of them.
  • He reaches for and grabs everything, which makes me thankful for short hair. No more dangle earrings for a while!
  • No teeth yet, but I think they're coming soon.
  • He thinks it is funny when Charlie licks him.
  • He still loves being outside.  We are so excited the weather is warming up!
  • He has fun at our baby music class at TCU.
  • He has a girlfriend in his class at school.  Last week he kissed her and held her hand on a wagon ride.
  • He talks and squeals all the time.  AND, he started saying "da da" this weekend.  It's more like "da da da da da" (a sound, not a word), but I think it counts.  :)
  • He makes some great faces.  See the pictures below for just a few examples!
  • He eats baby food 3 times a day (cereal and fruit at breakfast, vegetable at lunch, 1-2 vegetables at dinner) and either nurses or has a bottle 5 times a day.
  • He usually takes 2 long naps and 1 short nap a day.
  • He sleeps from around 8:30 pm to 7:30 am, on his stomach in his crib.
  • He is a pure joy, and we love everything about him!
